Class Description:
Art III is based upon the knowledge and skills gained in Art I and Art II. Students will have the opportunity to create their own projects and choice of material based upon a broad theme chosen by the student. Students will be required to create 2D, 3D, and mixed media artworks. Students will also have the opportunity to work in teams on a collaborative artwork, as well as participating in several challenged based and theme prompted art projects. Students will critique their peers artwork, using the tools they have gained in the previous courses. The class will also explore current happenings and techniques in the art world, as well as through art history, using literature and technologies as resources.
Students will also be required to complete an out of class sketchbook assignment every 10 days.
Students will complete and maintain an online portfolio, which will include pictures of their artwork, resume, etc; this will also include the students working art journal. This will also consist of a brief introduction to graphic design, file management, and photo prep. The art journal will contain written steps for each project, problems the student may have encountered, and how they solved those problems. Students will also maintain a sketchbook which will include class notes, sketches (planning) for their projects, etc. Students will also be required to create a written proposal and presentation for a public artwork.
Prerequisite: Art I, II, 2D OR 3D, with a C or better.
